Left-handed opener Shan Masood is relishing his return to Test cricket as he makes his comeback after 14 months.

The 32-year-old last appeared for Pakistan against New Zealand in January 2021. He was dropped from the series against South Africa and Imran Butt was integrated into the squad.

Shan made his way back after Abid Ali was diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome.

In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shan opened up ahead of the historic first Test against Australia for Benaud-Qadir Trophy.

“I think nothing compares or is above than representing Pakistan in any form. It is a moment of joy and pride for me as I will be a part of the historic series,” he said.

“It feels great to share the dressing room with my teammates and make a comeback after almost a year. It feels surreal as it has been quite a long now since my last representation,” he added.

Shan further added about the ongoing preparation. “We don’t have control over the outcome, but we’re doing our best in the preparation and strive to do the same on the field.”

Meanwhile, Shan added that he is ready to play again if the chance arises. “I’m giving it my all in the training sessions, and I believe I’m perfectly prepared to serve my country if the opportunity comes,” he concluded.

It must be noted that either Shan or Imam-ul-Haq will open the innings with Abdullah Shafique, who has only played two Tests.
