Pakistan cricketer, Shoaib Malik has offered strategic recommendations to bolster the team's performance ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Taking over his social media, Malik highlighted the significance of resilience, drawing upon past instances where the team emerged stronger from adversity.
“Tough series! Remember: we’ve been in tough spots before & came out stronger,” Shoaib wrote on X.
In his counsel, Malik singled out current captain Babar Azam, urging him to consider a shift in the batting order. Malik proposed Azam to take charge at position three, emphasizing the necessity for a dependable player to navigate the middle overs and rotate strike effectively.
“IMO [In my opinion] Babar should bat at no 03! We need someone in the middle overs to rotate strike, you are our best option, with your guidance our middle order will do a lot better,” Malik added.
Additionally, Malik extended words of encouragement to Azam Khan and Shadab Khan, highlighting their pivotal roles within the team setup. He emphasized the importance of confidence and playing with determination, especially as the team gears up for the impending World Cup.
“Azam and Shadab, you two are vital for our team, don’t lose confidence, play with heart, you are match winners. Going into the World Cup, keep your morale high, we’ve got this,” he further wrote.
These recommendations come in the wake of Pakistan's 2-0 series defeat against England, signaling the need for tactical adjustments.
The Pakistani squad is now focused on their upcoming World Cup campaign, with their opening match against the USA scheduled for Thursday, June 6, in Dallas, followed by matches against India on June 9 and Canada on June 12 in New York. Their final league match against Ireland is slated for June 16 in Florida.
