The 39-year-old asked fans to support the teams and watch the matches unfold during the upcoming tournament

Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik sent out a special message to the fans ahead of the start of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) while guaranteeing that the tournament will be really good.

The 39-year-old, who will lead the Mirpur Royals’ side in the KPL, asked fans to support the teams and watch the matches unfold during the upcoming tournament.

“Keep supporting all the teams in the Kashmir Premier League. Come to the stadium and watch the matches. Enjoy the matches. Support the teams and players you like. One thing is guaranteed which is that this tournament will be really good,” Malik said.

“This [league] is not just for the youngsters. It is also for players who have experience. It is a great opportunity, especially for the players of Kashmir. We will play with them and learn from them while they will learn from us. Because the learning process never ends, whatever you achieve in life. It is a great opportunity for all of us. We hope that this league will be a big success,” he added.

The veteran all-rounder praised the city of Muzaffarabad while looking forward to visiting the stadium in which the matches will be played.

“I am feeling great. I was actually looking forward to coming here and seeing the great views. I think the sights here are beautiful. I wish I can go to the mountains surrounding the city. I am really happy. I had heard a lot of praise for the stadium. I haven’t visited it yet. I will do that soon but I have heard a lot of good things about it. I hope it is exactly like I have been told. Muzaffarabad has been exactly like I was told,” he concluded.

In the first match of the KPL, Shahid Afridi’s Rawlakot Hawks will take on Shoaib Malik’s Mirpur Royals on August 6, while Bagh Stallions and Kotli Lions will be in action on August 7.

The first qualifier match of the tournament will be played on August 14, whereas the final match of the tournament is scheduled on the 17th.

Nineteen matches will be played in the tournament, with 12 set to be day and night affairs.
