Former South African captain AB de Villiers wants a "mouth-watering" Pakistan-India clash in the 2022 T20 World Cup grand final.

Two teams from Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and England will compete in the event's mega-final on Sunday, November 13, at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Men in Green were given a distant chance to qualify after South Africa faltered against the Netherlands in their final Super 12 match and was eliminated from the tournament. By defeating Bangladesh by five wickets on Sunday at the Adelaide Oval, the Men in Green capitalized on the situation and advanced to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, De Villiers has said he is rooting for a final involving Pakistan and India.

Fantasy final indeed! So far 70% have voted Yes, but I’m sure NZ and ENG will have something to say about that. Both teams have amazing line-ups and are in good form. Gonna be two epic semi final clashes. My vote goes for an Ind/Pak final too, would be a mouth watering encounter

Before the green shirts secured a semi-final spot, former England cricketer Graeme Swann and ex-Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh endorsed for a final between Pakistan and India.

The Sydney Cricket Ground will host a match between Pakistan and New Zealand on November 9, which tied for second place last year.

On November 10, India and England will square off at Adelaide Oval in the tournament's second semi-final.
