Tayyab Tahir's scored a stunning 71-ball century that largely contributed to Pakistan Shaheens' win over India in the final of ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup
Tayyab Tahir's sparkling century helped Pakistan Shaheens beat India A by 128 runs in the final of the ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
Before the final match, the national team's skipper, Babar Azam, gave a pep talk to the Shaheens, where he encouraged them to be confident and self-assured. While giving the post-match interview, the right-handed batter revealed that they all were taken aback by Babar's words of wisdom.
"He [Babar] shared his experience that it's okay if you have lost your first match against India. He gave us the confidence to go and play fiercely but, most importantly, enjoy the game because if you enjoy and play with a big heart, you'll win the game one-sided. That is exactly what happened today - we enjoyed, and we won," Tayyab said.
Tayyab Tahir was named the Player of the Final for his century as the right-handed batter brought up his fourth List A century off just 66 balls. He was dismissed for 108 off 71 balls, which included 12 fours and four towering sixes. Pakistan Shaheens won the final by 128 runs and were crowned champions for the second year in a row.
