Pakistan leg-spinner Usama Mir is likely to make his debut in the first ODI against New Zealand at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.

The 27-year-old was included in the squad as a replacement for Shadab Khan, who recently got injured while playing Big Bash League 2022 (BBL) in Australia.

Shan Masood, who was named vice-captain of the Pakistan team, is not included in the playing XI. All-rounder Haris Sohail, who last played the limited-overs format game way back in 2020, will return to the side against the Blackcaps today.

Reminder for all is that the interim chief selector Shahid Afridi included three uncapped players (Tayyab Tahir, Usama Mir, Kamran Ghulam) in the ODI squad against New Zealand.

The remaining two matches will be played in Karachi from January 11, 2023, till January 13, 2023.
