Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is preparing for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Currently the third highest run-scorer in the 50-over format, Kohli is poised to reach several significant milestones, further enhancing his remarkable career.

Kohli will be striving to deliver his best performance in Colombo, aiming not only to lead India to victory but also to secure his place in cricket history by reaching these key milestones:

14,000 ODI Runs

With 13,848 runs in ODIs, Kohli is just 152 runs away from hitting the 14,000-run mark. Given his exceptional form and extensive experience, it’s highly probable that he will achieve this milestone during the series. Currently, Sachin Tendulkar tops the ODI run charts with 18,426 runs, followed by Kumar Sangakkara with 14,234 runs.

ODI Fifties Record

Kohli, with 72 half-centuries, is tied with Sourav Ganguly. Scoring one more fifty will put him ahead of Ganguly, and with another fifty, he will surpass MS Dhoni's tally of 73 fifties. Achieving these will further solidify his standing among cricket legends.

Surpassing MS Dhoni's Run-Tally in Sri Lanka

Kohli has accumulated 1,028 runs in Sri Lanka at an average of 48.95, including five centuries and two fifties. He needs 213 more runs to surpass MS Dhoni’s tally of 1,240 runs in Sri Lanka. Given his current form and determination, Kohli is likely to reach this milestone during the three-match series.
