Pakistan's fast bowler Hasan Ali was released from the T20I squad ahead of the team's upcoming series against England on Wednesday.

The decision, announced by the team management, aims to allow Hasan to fulfill his commitments in county cricket.

Initially included in the squad as an injury cover for Haris Rauf, Hasan's release signals a shift in Pakistan's strategy. With the squad composition finalized and Rauf's fitness concerns presumably addressed, the management opted to give Hasan the opportunity to continue his cricketing endeavors elsewhere.

Hassan Ali now is back at Edgbaston and could be in line for a red ball return for Warwickshire on Friday against former club Lancashire.

Warwickshire First Team Coach Mark Robinson, said: “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster with Hassan over the last few weeks. An extended stay at a physical training camp delayed his arrival with us, then the call-up, and now his release.

“It’s great to have him back ahead of the weekend and the start of the Blast campaign.

“Obviously he’s not had his hand on a red ball for a few weeks so we’ll see where he’s at and make a judgement call over selection on Friday as we prepare for Old Trafford.”

In 2023, Hasan Ali took 24 wickets in seven red-ball matches for Warwickshire. This season, he has made two Vitality County Championship appearances, securing three wickets.
