Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram believes the veteran all-rounders Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez should keep playing as long as they are fit and performing.

The duo is currently part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, which is taking place in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“That’s their call. If they are physically fit and performing like the way they are, they should carry on. It’s their decisions and the whole country should support their decisions either way,” said Akram on A Sports.

It must be noted that Malik stayed tight-lipped after he was asked about his plans to retire from international cricket after the ongoing T20 World Cup.

“My focus is now on the World Cup matches and I am not thinking about the retirement during the competition,” said Malik few days back during a press conference.

Meanwhile, Hafeez wants to be part of a World Cup-winning team before retirement.

“I want to continue to serve for Pakistan for as long as possible. I also want to be part of a World Cup winning side before I retire,” said Hafeez in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan in February this year.

Pakistan will face Australia in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup in Dubai on November 11.
