The Pakistan cricket team went through extensive fielding drills during the training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, on Thursday, ahead of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan’s fielding standards have dipped a fair bit, which was evident during their 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup campaign as well, in the recent past but the Men in Green look keen on setting things right during the upcoming home assignment against the Islanders.

Head Coach-cum-Chief Selector Misbahul Haq had named 20 probables for the training camp, which commenced at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on September 18.

The camp is being set-up to prepare the side for the upcoming One-day International (ODI) and T20 International series against Sri Lanka, which will be held from September 27 to October 9.

On Saturday, September 21, at 11.30am at the Far End, Gaddafi Stadium, Misbahul Haq will announce the two squads. The ODI side will move to Karachi on September 24, where the first ODI will be played on September 27.

Earlier, Sri Lanka's cricket board said it will go ahead with its tour of Pakistan despite fears that players could be the targets of terror attacks during the six-match visit.

Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan de Silva said they received the all-clear from the defence ministry to leave for Pakistan.

The six-match tour was put on hold last week after the Sri Lanka prime minister's office warned the board it had unspecified information about a possible attack against its players.
