Pakistan fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, once again demonstrated his prowess as the best new-ball bowler in the world with an outstanding first-over masterclass during a thrilling match between Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals at Sophia Gardens on Wednesday in the ongoing The Hundred Men's competition.

Afridi's magic with the new ball left the Originals' top order in disarray as he took two crucial wickets in consecutive deliveries.

After being asked to bat first, Welsh fire scored a total of 94-3 in a shortened match of 40 balls.

During the chase, the action-packed over began with a spectacular in-swinging delivery that caught Phil Salt (0) off-guard, hitting him on the pad and earning an LBW decision from the umpire. Laurie Evans (0) was the next batsman to face the relentless onslaught from Afridi.

Afridi ended up conceding 24 runs in just 10 deliveries while picked the aforementioned two wickets. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf's performance for Welsh was even more impressive as he displayed exceptional economy, giving away only 15 runs in his 10 balls.

Not to be outdone, David Willey made a significant impact by claiming two wickets as well. Their combined efforts proved instrumental in limiting the opposing team, the Originials, to a total of 85 runs in 40 balls.

Thanks to their outstanding bowling and strategic gameplay, Welsh emerged victorious with a well-deserved nine-run lead, clinching an exciting and hard-fought victory in the match.
