Multan Sultans opener Shan Masood feels his side needs to address their batting collapse in the final league game against Islamabad United on Saturday in HBL PSL 6.

In the last 64 balls of their innings in the aforementioned match, Sultans lost 10 wickets while adding only 56 runs on the board.

While speaking in the post-match presentation, the opener said he is confident that his team will work on their weaknesses and will come out as an improved side in the next match.

“I think the important thing was that we started well but didn’t finish it well enough. And that is something which we have to address. Our bowlers took the game till the second last ball which is a very big effort as we were defending only 150. We were good in the field but once you get a good start, it is the job of the batsmen to go till the end,” Shan said.

“Luckily, it’s a blessing in disguise that we only had to keep the run-rate in mind. But we have got a warning sign, it’s always good before a decider, it won’t be a knockout but a qualifier that you know your weaknesses and you know that you have to take responsibility,” he added.

Masood is hoping to continue his rich vein of form when Sultans take on Islamabad United in the first qualifier on Monday.

“I think it is important to spend time in the middle, it was the toughest in these conditions, just to play 10-12 overs and get some runs for the team. So hopefully I can do something in the qualifiers and I’m also hoping the whole batting line-up clicks,” he said.
