Pakistan’s pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, while speaking in a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) video on Saturday, expressed the belief that the Men in Green’s bowlers could have bowled better in the last session of day two of the first Test against West Indies.

West Indies ended the day with a lead of 34 runs despite giving away regular wickets.

The 21-year-old expressed hope that the Men in Green’s bowlers would be able to wrap up West Indies’ innings within half an hour on day three.

“Test cricket is a game of sessions. Before the last session, West Indies were still trailing by 50 runs. We should have bowled better in that last session. Despite taking wickets, we couldn’t keep up the pressure for a longer time. We will try to get West Indies out on the next day within half an hour. We have to get them out for a lead of fewer than 50 runs. They have the ability to make a comeback even in the fourth innings. If we can get them out for a low total then our batsmen can score well. We have to give credit to Craig Brathwaite who played a good knock,” Shaheen said.

West Indies have scored 251 runs for the loss of eight wickets in response to Pakistan’s first-innings score of 217 runs.

Pakistan will be looking to minimise the damage while West Indies will be looking for quick runs as play resumes on day three.
