Former Pakistan cricketers Younis Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Sohail Tanvir called on Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf today at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Ashraf is on the lookout for a new chief selector who possesses a thorough understanding of the demands of contemporary cricket.

Following the acceptance of Inzamam-ul-Haq's resignation as chief selector, former Test cricketer Tauseef Ahmed took charge of selecting the team for the Australia Test tour. However, the PCB has now disbanded the selection committee headed by the interim chief selector, Tauseef Ahmed.

Now the PCB chief is considering appointing either Younis Khan, Wahab Riaz Mohammad Hafeez as the new chief selector. However Wahab Riaz is the strongest candidate to get the position.

The new selection committee will engage in deliberations on the Test squad composition from November 20 to 24. Concurrently, a training camp will be setup, inviting players who have excelled in domestic cricket.

After the Australian Test tour, Pakistan will play 19 T20Is leading up to the T20 World Cup in June in West Indies and USA.

Pakistan won their only T20 World Cup in 2009 under the leadership of Younis Khan. On the other hand, Mohammad Hafeez boasts a commendable captaincy record in T20 cricket.

As the decision-making process unfolds, an official announcement regarding the new selection committee is expected soon.

The PCB aims to ensure that the appointed chief selector is well-equipped to navigate the challenges posed by the dynamic landscape of modern-day cricket.
