Left-hander was named player of the series
Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has revealed that the bat he used during the recently concluded South Africa ODI series was gifted to him by veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez.
The left-hander played a crucial role in Pakistan’s series win, scoring 302 runs in three innings with the help of two centuries, and was also named the player of the series.
“The bat I used during the series was gifted by Mohammad [Hafeez] bhai. He has always supported me and every senior cricketer should learn from him on how to treat junior cricketers. He also supported and guided me during the PSL [Pakistan Super League],” said Zaman during a virtual press conference.
He also spoke about his strong comeback after a string of low scores.
“I put in hard yards when I was out of form which is why is why I was able to make a strong comeback. I would like to thank everyone who supported me when I was out of form,” he said.
Zaman was also upbeat heading into the four-match T20I series after the win in the ODIs against the Proteas.
“Winning ODI series against South Africa in South Africa is a big achievement and a morale booster for the entire team. Hopefully we can carry this momentum in the T20I series as well,” he concluded.
