Interim selection committee discusses selection issues with national team

The newly-appointed selection committee for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), led by Shahid Afridi, met with the national team's captain Babar Azam and head coach Saqlain Mushtaq.

They discussed selection issues following the team's draw against New Zealand in the first Test of the series.

"Aggressive cricket, good pitches, and positive strategy were discussed. Together we will work for the improvement of Pakistan cricket. Good pitches are essential to make Pakistan a top team," the former skipper said.

"We want to remove fear from the hearts of players. In order to play good cricket in other countries, we have to prepare here," he maintained.

Afridi, who is serving as the interim chairman of the selection committee for the home series against New Zealand, assured that there were no concerns or differences between himself and the management.

He also mentioned that there will be a better pitch for future matches, though not a significant difference.

"There has been a lot of positive discussion on the selection issue. The selection committee and management are almost on the same page. Communication with everyone is very important," he said.

Reminder for all is that Najam Sethi was appointed as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee by Prime Minister of Pakistan Najam Sethi.
