Pakistan cricket team is nothing less than full feature film. The team will take you to an emotional rollercoaster ride every now and then and Friday was no different.
In the match against Afghanistan, the Men in Green gave their fans the kind of excitement and drama they would be happy not to experience again.
In the bowling department, Pakistan showed glimpses of how frustrating of a team they can be. The team ended up dropping four catches, but yet, at one stage, had things under complete control until late blitz from captain Asghar Afghan and later from left-hander Hashmatullah Shahidi.
Later in the batting department, the Men in Green did the same thing as well, where things looked completely under control for the most part but once the second wicket fell, things turned ugly and it was Shoaib Malik who took the team over the line in the match where more than just pride was at stake.
The team will now prepare itself for an all-important tie against India for the second time in less than a week — that too at the same venue where they were thrashed by eight wickets in the last meeting on Wednesday.
In the batting department, the team will be relying heavily on in-form opener Imamul Haq and top-order batsman Babar Azam. The duo combined together for a match-turning partnership of 154 runs for the second-wicket on Friday and the team management will be hoping for another impressive performance come Sunday.
Veteran all-rounder Malik will be responsible to make sure that the team will have a solid finish, whereas captain Sarfraz Ahmed will go into the match with an added pressure to his batting after another failure and the team management will be expecting better things from him.
It will be interesting to see who will make place for leg-spinner Shadab Khan in the team as he missed the previous match due to back injury.
In the bowling department, the team will be relying on pace battery consist of Usman Khan Shiwnari, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali. Considering Junaid Khan’s record against India, he might replace one of the three pacers, most likely Shinwari, who went wicketless in the previous match.
On the other hand, team India will come in the match after an impressive performance against Bangladesh where they hardly put a foot wrong.
In the batting department, the team will be relying heavily on in-form captain Rohit Sharma and his partner Shikhar Dhawan to do the bulk of the scoring.
Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik have shown decent form with the bat, whereas veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni will be responsible for making sure that the team finishes on a high.
The departure of all-rounder Hardik Pandya was a major blow for the defending champions, but the arrival and impressive performance of Ravindra Jadeja will be a big boost for the team going forward.
Apart from him, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will share the new-ball responsibility, whereas part-timer Kedar Jadhav might trouble the Men in Green’s batsmen once again.
