Pakistan players object to home day-night Test

Pakistan players are not in favour of playing a home day-night Test against Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in the upcoming season.

Pakistan will be hosting Sri Lanka for two Test matches in October, whereas Bangladesh is also scheduled to play two Tests in Pakistan in January 2020.

According to details, Pakistan cricketers believe that playing a day-night Test at home will take away the home advantage from them. This has prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from deciding against holding any home day-night Test this season.

Sri Lanka considering Pakistan tour

Last time Pakistan hosted a day-night Test match, they lost the game by 68 runs to Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in 2017. Pakistan’s first home day-night Test was also at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against West Indies in 2016, where they just managed to sneak a win by 56 runs.

However, Pakistan is scheduled to play an away day-night Test match this year against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in November. Inorder to get a bit of experience with the pink ball for the series against Australia, some matches of the Quaid-e-Azam (QeA) Trophy are expected to be played under floodlights.

Pakistan will begin their campaign in the inaugural International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Championship against Sri Lanka in October, where the players will don Test jerseys with name and numbers printed on the back.

ICC has changed the design of the Test jerseys that now include the name and number of the respective players.

The new jerseys are currently being used in the ongoing 2019 Ashes series, that is played between England and Australia.

The Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar and former Australia pacer Brett Lee have slammed this idea as they believe it has taken away the traditional spirit of the game.
