The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provided a one-month notice, which will be followed by an eventual lay off, to five employees of the administration branch as part of the restructuring policy. The contracts of these employees will not be renewed.
The staff that has been issued the letters, for their eventual layoffs, includes office boys and helpers that have been associated with the PCB for a long time.
According to sources, lower staff members have been issued lay off letters that will come into effect from July 1. The numbers are likely to increase in the coming days. PCB representatives have also verified that the contracts of five employees from the management department will not be renewed. They have claimed that the employees have been given a one-month notice as part of the restructuring policy after which their services will no longer be required. Some employees are being laid off because of unsatisfactory performances as well.

Meanwhile, the PCB has decided to remove non-essential and low performing staff members. Lists have been prepared from all departments for the purpose. The layoffs would target lower management staff along with some individuals from middle and senior management.
The PCB currently employs around 800 individuals whose performance and importance is currently being scrutinised. The officials of the PCB believe that the financial position of the board is currently shaky. The board can, however, function for around two to three years on the current circumstances.
