PCB offices set to reopen on March 24 despite COVID-19

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to reopen its offices from March 24 despite the global spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to sources, the board is keen on addressing important pending matters after the suspension of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five. The league was postponed indefinitely after one foreign player showed symptoms of coronavirus.

The PCB’s Director Medical and Sports Sciences Dr Sohail Saleem will lead a monitoring team, which will carry out medical screening of staff entering board’s premises on a daily basis. The team comprises of Dr Riaz, Dr Muqaddas Umar, Dr Ali Bukhari, Dr Waqas Malik and Dr Amir Ashfaq.

It must be noted that only skeleton-staff has been asked to come to work while the rest have been advised to work from home.      

Earlier, the PCB had suspended its all domestic competitions and cricket activities.
