Top ranking at stake in Scotland T20Is for Pakistan

Pakistan will face Scotland in a two-match T20I series at Edinburgh from June 12, which could have a significant impact on the ICC T20 rankings, in case things go south for the Men in Green.

Pakistan—who are currently the number one ranked side in the world in the shortest format of the game—will lose seven points and will be pushed down to number three on the table if they lose the series against Scotland.

On the other hand, the home side—who are ranked number 11 on the table— will move up one spot to enter the top ten.

In the event of the series being drawn, Pakistan will drop three points but will retain their number one spot in the rankings. But this would mean that the gap with second placed Australia will come down to just one point.

Pakistan have been on a good run of form in T20Is during 2018 with five wins from six matches. Their only defeat so far was against New Zealand back in January in Wellington.
