Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has reported a match-fixing offer made to him during the ongoing Global T20 Canada league.
According to details, Akmal has allegedly claimed that a former Pakistan cricketer approached him with a match-fixing offer, which he immediately reported to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit. Akmal is representing Winnipeg Hawks during the event.
Pakistan players given NOC for GT20 Canada League
When the PCB was approached on this issue, the board said that they had nothing to do with the league.
“Canada is handling Global T20 League's administration. Pakistan Cricket Board has nothing to do with it,” a PCB spokesperson said.
Earlier five players from Pakistan were granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) by the PCB to participate in the league. These players include all-rounders Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez, pacer Wahab Riaz, leg-spinner Shadab Khan and middle-order batsman Umar Akmal.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi is also participating in the tournament. Afridi, however, did not require an NOC from the PCB because he has retired from international cricket.
The league began on July 25 while the final is scheduled for August 11.
