'Yeah, I had a cry,' Jonny Bairstow on England's T20 World Cup victory

England right-handed batter Jonny Bairstow said that he cried when the three lions won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, which had just ended.

In an interview with the international media channel, Jonny talked about how he felt when England won the World Cup, and he didn't get to play.

“No, I was absolutely fine. And the closer you get to the lads winning, the emotion starts to come in,” said Bairstow.

“Yeah, I had a cry; I’m not going to be shy to say that. Well, yeah, because of the emotion of everything, like being told that you’re going to open the batting in it, breaking my leg, watching the lads go out there and not winning it last year, but then the guys win it this year.

“So there’s that whole emotion of the things I’m going through here, from my leg and everything like that, coupled with the pure elation you’ve got for all the boys.”

It's important to note that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in September that Bairstow wouldn't be going to the mega event because he injured his lower leg in a freak accident while playing golf.

Bairstow later revealed he had broken his leg in three places and dislocated his ankle after slipping while walking off the side of the green.

“I tried to regain my balance, my left ankle turned right, dislocated, and my weight went through my left lower leg,” he told the Telegraph. “I heard it snap straight away.”
