Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, recently expressed his views on the matter, calling for politicians to come together and engage in dialogue to resolve the issue.

Afridi believes that India's participation in the Asia Cup scheduled in Pakistan would have been a positive step towards improving the relationship between the two nations.

"The main problem is we don't sit together and talk. Politicians should also come together and talk like we are sitting here and talking. They have a huge responsibility," Shahid Afridi said.

"It would have been really nice if India had come. It would have been a step towards cricket and Pakistan for India. This is not a generation of wars and fights; we want relationships to improve. We have played against India with a lot of love and affection. I remember when we came to India, we got an outstanding response," he added.

He fondly recalled the 2005 series between India and Pakistan, where players from both teams were treated with love and affection.

"If you remember the 2005 series, Harbhajan and Yuvraj used to go shopping and to restaurants, and no one used to charge them money. This is the beauty of the two nations," Afridi concluded.

Several reports suggest that a possible compromise between India and Pakistan is on the horizon.

The current theory is that India will play its matches in the UAE while Pakistan will play at home. The match will be held in the UAE if India makes it to the final. However, there has been no official confirmation of this arrangement yet.
