Bangladesh not interested in playing day-night Test against Pakistan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is not interested in playing the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which is scheduled to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi in April, under lights.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB’s) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan, revealed that a proposal had been sent to BCB to organise a day-night Test encounter between the two sides but were waiting for a response from their counterparts in Bangladesh.

"With Test cricket returning to Pakistan now and many countries also going towards day and night Tests, we want to give our players maximum exposure and also want to host pink ball matches," Khan said.

While speaking to Cricbuzz on Tuesday, the BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin explained the apprehensions of the board regarding playing a day-night Test in Pakistan.

"We have spoken with our team management and they are not ready to play day-night Test at the moment due to lack of preparation," Chowdhury said.  "BCB also understands their point of view and taking everything into consideration we have decided not to play day-night Test match in Pakistan."

Last year in November, Bangladesh played their first day-night Test against India in Kolkata, which they lost by an innings and 46 runs within three days.

However, the BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury believes playing a day-night Test in India is totally different to playing one in Pakistan.

 “Look, the context of that Test was different,” he said. “Sourav Ganguly had just taken over as the President of BCCI. Bangladesh went to India for the first time to play a full Test series. India invited all the former cricketers to that Test. That was a special occasion in Eden, a special situation.”
