Pacer also touted Peshawar Shoaib Malik as one of the best players in the middle-order
Pakistan’s pacer Wahab Riaz believes that senior players still have a role to play in the national side while questioning the selection committee’s decision-making.
Riaz also touted Peshawar Zalmi teammate Shoaib Malik as one of the best players in the middle-order.
“I don’t know exactly what the issue with the senior [players] is. Maybe youngsters listen to what they have to say, while seniors have a say in matters and you have to convince them,” said Riaz while talking to media in Lahore.
“Although, at the end of the day you have to look at the team plans and combination but I still think that Shoaib Malik is one of the best players in the middle-order and he has showed that in this PSL as well,” he added.

The left-arm pacer, who was the second highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), was also disappointed over his non-selection for the tour of England and West Indies.
“This criteria of selection is a question for the selection committee but I think whoever performs well should be selected. They might have a good reason behind it [exclusion from squad] but as a player I’m disappointed,” he said.
“I’m still young and have a lot to offer. I’m looking to play for another three to four years but depending on my fitness and performance,” he added.
