Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has named his team of the T20 World Cup, which features two Pakistani players; Babar Azam and Asif Ali.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hogg applauded Babar Azam's grit and determination to bat for long periods and follow through with the plan set by the team management.

"He [Babar] batted for the majority of the innings for Pakistan and set the tone for the power hitters to come and do their job," he said.

The former Aussie not only added Babar to the bunch but also gave him the responsibility to lead his team of the tournament.

"Babar Azam will captain my team because he has done a wonderful job; he did a steller of a job as a batsman and then lead the troops perfectly," Hogg said.

Naming the second Pakistani player for his team, Hogg chose Asif Ali for his phenomenal batting which contributed massively to beating New Zealand and Afghanistan before making it to the finals.

"It's very hard to find players that can come in and find boundaries from ball one. But that was his job for the Pakistan team and it came off most of the time," he explained the reason behind his selection.

Hogg believes that Asif was unlucky to have mistimed the shot, against Australia in the semi-final, because otherwise, the ball was there to be hit.

"He slightly just mistimed one against Australia in the semi-final but the shot was there and he was still prepared to go after it. I like people who put the team's needs over their own performances," he concluded.
