The Pakistan team management is on the back foot after the Men in Green failed to register a convincing performance in the first T20I against Zimbabwe.

During Wednesday’s match in Harare, Pakistan won by 11 runs but the batting department, especially the middle-order, failed to deliver. This could mean that changes in the playing XI are unlikely during the second T20I on Friday.

The management had planned to give opportunities to opener Sharjeel Khan and uncapped all-rounder Mohammad Wasim Jnr and pacer Arshad Iqbal, during the series, but their chances of playing will now depend on Pakistan’s victory in the second T20I. If Pakistan seals the series on Friday, new faces could be given a go in the third T20I.

Meanwhile, Pakistan squad isn’t impressed with the facilities on offer in Zimbabwe. The lack of a proper gym, unavailability of desi food, due to bio-bubble, and no access to swimming pool have been identified as few of the causes in this regard.

The remaining 11 members of the Pakistan’s Test squad have also arrived in Harare and will join the rest of the team after a three-day quarantine.
