The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani and the Men in Green 2019 ICC World Cup squad is expected to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday in Islamabad.

Khan, who captained Pakistan to their only World Cup triumph in 1992, is likely to use the meeting as a way to boost the morale of the squad ahead of the mega event.

Meanwhile the agenda of the Mani's meeting with the Premier is likely to revolve around the next season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the renovation of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

According to PCB sources, this meeting had been scheduled two weeks ago and has nothing to do with the current revolt by PCB governing board members against Wasim Khan’s appointment as Managing Director (MD) of PCB.

Source further added that the government has the option to impose ad-hoc in the current situation; however such an option would also lead to the removal of Ehsan Mani as PCB Chairman.

International Cricket Council (ICC) is not in favour of any government interference and such a move can end up hurting PCB.

PCB has various options through which they can solve this crisis. They can either fasten the process of changing the constitution through which the governing board members won’t have any powers, or they can convince the Board of Governors regarding changes in domestic structure and change their stance on Wasim Khan’s appointment.

According to board officials, Wasim Khan will continue his work as the MD of PCB, since the PCB Chairman did not accept the resolution passed by the governing board members.

Board officials maintain that the Board of Governors were informed about the appointment of Wasim Khan as Managing Director in the December 18 meeting.
