The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made the decision to cancel the scheduled Pakistan Super League (PSL) workshop, which was set to take place on June 23 in Lahore. This announcement was conveyed to all franchises through an email, notifying them of the development. The workshop had initially been planned to discuss the addition of two more teams to the PSL and to devise a convincing formula that would persuade the franchise owners to support this expansion.
The initiative to expand the PSL was spearheaded by Najam Sethi, the former chairman of the PCB management committee. Sethi had been actively advocating for the inclusion of two additional teams in the tournament. The workshop was intended to facilitate discussions and reach a consensus among the stakeholders.

However, the plans for PSL expansion have encountered a setback with Najam Sethi withdrawing his candidacy from the PCB chairmanship. This unexpected development has brought the discussions on the addition of more teams to a halt. The PCB is now faced with the task of electing a new chairman, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 27, at the PCB headquarters in Lahore.
The future course of action regarding the PSL will largely depend on the incoming chairman, who is expected to be Zaka Ashraf. The decision to proceed with the addition of more teams to the tournament or to explore alternative avenues will be made in due course after the consultation process with the new PCB chairman.
