Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, while talking at an event at New Nazimabad in Karachi, opened up about the recent postponement of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six by stating that it was a very saddening development.

The 33-year-old believed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had to make the tough decision after the recent surge in coronavirus cases.

“The HBL PSL season six’s postponement is very saddening. The PCB had to very reluctantly cancel the event due to a rise in coronavirus cases. Quetta Gladiators had come back strongly in the fifth game by registering a strong victory after consecutive losses in the first four outings,” Sarfaraz said.

Pakistan’s former captain also praised wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan while claiming that some people were trying to build an atmosphere of animosity between him and the current star of Pakistan cricket.

“I have no issues with wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan. Some people just want to create competition between me and him. It must be a competition for everyone but not for us. Rizwan has performed well in the HBL PSL after incredible performances in all formats of the game at the International stage. He is undoubtedly a very capable cricketer,” he said.

“Whenever the HBL PSL resumes, Quetta Gladiators will continue winning in the same vein as the last match. The addition of West Indies’ batsman Chris Gayle was a very happy occasion for all of us. He showed his significance by playing incredibly in the first few matches of the tournament,” he concluded.
