T20 World Cup: Ian Bishop pins high hopes on Haider Ali

Former West Indies cricketer and renowned commentator Ian Bishop has pinned high hopes on Haider Ali following his selection for the T20 World Cup.

The 21-year-old impressed the selection committee with his remarkable performances in the National T20 Cup. He is also the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 317 runs in only 8 innings, averaging 63.40 with a strike rate of 146.75.

In a tweet, Bishop expressed his delight over Haider's selection while also hoping that the youngster makes the most out of this opportunity.

Bishop, who also played Test cricket for West Indies, has always remained a public admirer of Haider Ali and picked him as "one for the future" following the U-19 World Cup last year.

“I doubt anyone who saw Haider Ali in the ICC U19 CWC had any doubt he would play international cricket. With Younis and Misbah and Babar around the timing is perfect. They can insulate him from the pressure and expectation and give him a few years to grow,” Bishop had previously tweeted.

Haider Ali has made huge strides when it comes to improving his batting, as evident from his performances in National T20 Cup. He has matured as a batsman, performing under pressure and seeing out games.
