The left-arm unorthodox spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi, is enjoying the opportunity to play for Karachi Kings in the ongoing eighth season of HBL PSL 8.

South Africa's frontline spinner believes that all the players in the team are exceptionally good at their jobs, however, he is motivated to play his part whenever the team needs him.

Karachi Kings preferred the veteran spinner, Imran Tahir, ahead of Shamsi in the season's first four games.

While speaking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, the left arm spinner said that he is excited to play a role in team's success and he will continue to do so in the upcoming games.

“Yes, it has been really nice obviously. It was tough being on the sidelines but that's why you have a squad. Everybody in the squad is a quality player and everybody is capable of winning games for the team,” Shamsi said.

“I was happy to get my opportunity to try and do that for the team. Looking forward to rest of the games whether I play or not, it doesn't really matter you know, whichever eleven players are chosen to take the field on the day, I have full confidence that they can do the job for the team,” he added.

The left-arm spinner also shared his experience of touring Pakistan with the South African team in 2021.

"It is a really nice experience. I was in Pakistan last year when we played the T20 series and Test series. I didn't get to play the Test match in Karachi. It was my first time playing here and it was a really good experience," he said.

He further explained how he felt about the first player of the match award that he received in his first PSL game against Multan Sultans. Shamsi has picked four wickets in two games he has played this season.

"Really happy, obviously when you play for any team, you try to put in a big performance and that's certainly one of my goals. Whenever I play, I'd like to contribute to my team's success,” he said.

“I have had good success in past as well. But you know how cricket is - you play well one day and you go for runs the next day. So, it's nice to have a little bit of experience and a little bit of success in the past,” he added.
