Waqar slams Sarfaraz Ahmed's batting approach against Qalandars

Former Pakistan head coach and legendary fast bowler, Waqar Younis, criticized Quetta Gladiators skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed's batting approach in yesterday's match against the Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. 

During his commentary stinit, former cricketer slammed the Quetta Gladiators skipp for his lackluster performance with the bat, while chasing the 149-run target.

The right-hand wicketkeeper-batsman could only muster 27 runs in 28 deliveries at a measly strike rate of 96.43.

Waqar said that such a strike rate is not good enough to win games in the highly competitive Pakistan Super League (PSL).

"Sarfaraz Ahmed has scored 25 runs in 25 deliveries. A man who came in at number six is supposed to be a finisher with a strike rate of 150 or 160. Sarfaraz has a strike rate of 100 today; you aren't going to win games like that," he said.

Lahore Qalandars batted first and started losing wickets early. Seven wickets of the Qalandars squad were down inside the first ten overs. 

Pakistan-born Zimbabwe all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, was the star of the match, as he made a quick-fire 34-ball 71 runs, including eight boundaries and three huge sixes. Afghanistan star all-rounder, Rashid Khan, also contributed with his bat as he scored 20-ball 21 runs, including one four and one six.

In reply, Quetta start brilliantly as they scored 56 runs after losing one wicket inside the powerplay. With supreme pace and aggression, Haris Rauf claimed three wickets alongside Rashid Khan, who took two wickets. The Gladiators were restricted to 131 runs in their 20 overs, thus losing the match by 17 runs.
