Among the affected officials are renowned umpires Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza, both of whom hold positions in the International Cricket Council (ICC) panel.
Unfortunately, the league has faced several controversies, mainly arising from unsettled payment problems. It is estimated that the total outstanding sum owed to match officials for their contributions during the league's second season is approximately PKR 3 million.
"We are still in negotiations with the organisers, but they keep asking us to wait 'for some more time'," a match official said.
The delay has sparked speculation that the PCB might step in and conduct an investigation into the financial affairs of the regional league as the third season of KPL approaches.
In contrast to these concerns, a KPL representative has provided reassurance to both the officials and the public, assuring them that the outstanding dues will be resolved prior to the start of the third season.
The league's representative admitted that the second season's financial challenges were due to multiple matches being cancelled because of rain, resulting in substantial financial losses.
However, they expressed confidence that the outstanding payments would be quickly resolved, offering reassurance to the affected match officials.
"We incurred heavy losses due to several matches being washed out during the second season. But, the dues will be cleared soon," the official said.
