The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to continue with existing top brass, with Chief Executive (CEO) Wasim Khan and Chairman Ehsan Mani set for contract extension.

According to sources, Wasim wants to continue working with PCB inorder to ensure that there is continuity in the decisions he has made over the past few years.

During Wasim’s tenure, PCB has ensured that international teams continue touring Pakistan, a process which was initiated by the previous regime. Although, the new domestic cricket structure and mismanagement in the last two seasons of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) negatively affected his reputation.

The contract between PCB and Wasim, who took charge in February 2019 on a three-year contract, stipulates that both parties will decide a year in advance whether or not to extend the term. This discussion was set to take place at a governing board meeting in Karachi during February, earlier this year, but due to uncertainty surrounding Mani’s extension the decision was delayed.

Meanwhile, Mani, who got the green signal from the Prime Minister house for a three-year extension, also wants to continue working with the same team. His current tenure will expire in September this year.

Sources close to Wasim had, earlier, stated that the CEO was not keen on working with Mani due to latter’s excessive interference in the former’s work. However, PCB sources have now brushed aside this notion by stating that Wasim won’t get a better job anywhere else and he has already made up his mind about continuing for another few years. Wasim’s extension is likely to be discussed at the next governing board meeting.
