Lahore Qalandars’ captain Sohail Akhtar still maintains that his team is the ‘best’ in this year’s Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL), despite losing their second game of the season against Islamabad United by one wicket at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Sunday.

While speaking to media in the post-match press conference, the Qalandars captain was confident about making a strong comeback in the tournament.

“It is just a matter of one game. Once we are on the winning track then I think that our team [Lahore Qalandars] is the best team of this tournament considering our batting and bowling line-up,” Akhtar said. “We still have eight matches to go, so we will try to make a strong comeback.”

Qalandars had set up a mammoth 182 for six, after being asked to bat, at the back of Mohammad Hafeez’s unbeaten 57-ball 98 in which the all-rounder struck seven fours and seven sixes.

Akhtar was full of praise for the veteran-allrounder’s crucial knock against United.

“Hafeez bhai is the best batsman in Pakistan after Babar Azam,” he said. “He is a senior player and we expect a big innings from him. Unfortunately he got out early in the first match, but he is our main players and our batting revolves around him. He played brilliantly today.”

Qalandars will face Peshawar Zalmi in their next match of the tournament on February 28, in Rawalpindi, with eyes set on their first win of the tournament.
