Pakistan’s bowling coach Waqar Younis has slammed former pacer Aaqib Javed for criticising the Men in Green’s team management.
While commentating during the ongoing National T20 Cup in Faisalabad on Wednesday, Younis said that Javed needs to take his dismal record into account as Director Cricket Operations of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars, before pointing fingers at others.

“You know what really surprises me is that the other day I was listening to Aaqib Javed and he was criticising the management and Misbah,” said Younis. “I was thinking he has been the director of Qalandars for six or seven years and they have never qualified [for the playoffs], so he has no right to comment.”
Javed had lashed out at the newly appointed coaching setup, led by Misbah, after Pakistan were clean swept three-nil by Sri Lanka in the recently-concluded Twenty20 (T20) series at home.
The Qalandars coach was particularly miffed with the comeback of opener Ahmed Shehzad and middle-order batsman Umar Akmal into the national side.
“The kind of personality and mindset Misbah has, I cannot even think that the decision to play Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad could be his,” said Javed. “Misbah and Waqar Younis, as the captain and head coach, had written letters regarding these players as they wanted this duo to be kept away from the national fold then how come have they brought them back?”
“I just cannot believe that the decision to recall them was theirs,” he added.
