Along with Zahid Akhtar Zaman, six other government officials have also been appointed to PCB

Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, along with six other government officials, have been appointed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as outgoing Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar makes significant decisions ahead of the upcoming elected prime minister's tenure in March.

Initially, Anwaar nominated Mohsin Naqvi for the PCB chief position while Naqvi was also serving as caretaker chief minister of Punjab. Subsequently, Naqvi was elected as PCB chief on February 6.

Morever, Anwaar increased his nominees on the PCB Board of Governors from two to three. Anwar had nominated two individuals, including Mohsin Naqvi, and retained Mustafa Ramday, previously nominated by then-Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with Zaka Ashraf. The addition of Zahid Akhtar Zaman increases the PM’s nominees.

A PCB official, speaking anonymously to a local media outlet, confirmed that orders have been issued regarding some of the officials but their specific roles within the PCB are yet to be determined.

“Currently, the PCB chairman is on leave, and is abroad with his family. When he returns the situation about the jobs of these government officials will be decided,” PCB official said.

It is worth noting that the Establishment Division has ordered the government officials, including Sohail Ashraf, Zain Asim, Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Irtiza Komail, and Rafiullah, to join the PCB.
