The World ILT20 tournament began in Dubai with a vibrant opening ceremony featuring appearances from Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and musical performances by Badshah, Jason Derulo, and Devine Bravo.

In the first match, Dubai Capitals emerged victorious with a 73-run victory over Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
Batting first, the winning team scored 187 runs for six wickets, with strong performances from captain Rowan Powell (48 runs) and Robin Uthappa (43 runs).
The losing team scored 114 runs for nine wickets in the allotted overs, with opener Paul Stirling leading with 54 runs.
