Skipper Kane Williamson calls series win "special"

New Zealand won the three-match ODI series against Pakistan 2-1 after Glenn Phillips scored an unbeaten half-century at the National Bank cricket arena, Karachi. 

Phillips' knock of 63 off 42 balls, which included four sixes and four fours, helped New Zealand achieve a target of 281 runs after Pakistan scored 280-9 in their 50 overs.

 New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson praised the series win as "special" and the quality of the pitches in Karachi as being "competitive" with a "nice balance between bat and ball."

"It is special; we always know whether it is home or away, it is always tough the cricket against Pakistan; they are a very strong side," said Williamson.

"So to come here and play well as a unit throughout the series and getting a series win is a very good effort by the team and another great opportunity to take a lot of learnings from it as well," he maintained.

 He also noted that the win was New Zealand's first ODI series victory in Pakistan in six attempts and kept them at the top of the one-day rankings.

"It was very much in the balance at the halfway stage, I think both teams were quite curious to see how the wicket would play out in the second and first innings, and we saw in the last game that turn was on display, today not so much and that's great," said Williamson.
